Time Waits For No One
2009-02-18

Tick, tick, tick of the clock... The seconds, minutes, and hours are going by at record speeds. It seems as if time has sped up. The days are being marked off the calendar and we are already well into winter. Even as I sit hear typing on this computer, the hands of the clock seem to be rotating rapidly. I look up one minute and think, what? Where has the time gone? Surely, I haven't been sitting here that long. I guess by now you are wondering where this is heading. Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about the lost around me; the dads, sisters, brothers, moms, spouses, children, relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even strangers that I come in contact with daily. I have realized that the numbers of them who are unsaved are astounding, actually mind boggling. Why in the world have I been so non-challant, so cavalier about intercessory prayer and witnessing? I pride myself on being a woman of prayer and I have always thought of myself as a very caring individual. I hate to admit it but I have just realized that I am a fraud. Oh, it hurts to admit it but I feel every weakness revealed is an opportunity for growth. How can I say I am a woman of prayer and allow minute after hour to go by and minimally lift my voice in prayer, crying out for the lost around me. I waste more time doing non-important things than I care to admit. Searching the internet for the next big sale or seeking out useless information when I could be using my time wisely and be earnestly seeking the face of our Savior with prayers of intercession, crying out for mercy for the unsaved in these last days. I waste so much time meandering through the countless isles at the local shopping mall, needlessly window shopping or sitting on the couch reading an uninspiring magazine of some sort. I have sat idly by and allowed the lost and the hurting around me to keep stepping closer to the everlasting pits of hell. Literally, every second, our unsaved loved ones are drawing nearer to the judgment. Every second we live on this earth is placing us closer to eternity. This may sound dramatic or "gloomy" but the fact of reality is that the subject of everlasting torment is the gloomiest thought imaginable and whether it actually sinks in to the uttermost part of our mind and soul or not, it is inevitable. None of us have the promise of tomorrow. The Bible clearly states that our life is like a vapor, here today, tomorrow it vanishes away. We cannot be secure in believing that any of our lost family and friends has a vast amount of time to make it right with the Lord, to seek forgiveness of sins. I just feel the urgency to tell our Christian family to wake up from the slumbering and come out of the slothful behavior and mindset. I challenge each Christian to dive into deep, fervent, persistent prayer. To plead for God to pour out His mercy, grace, and love and send conviction to our loved ones who have never felt the pardon of sin. We just can't let the clocks keep ticking while we're so self-absorbed that we are missing out on our true callingto reach the lost, to teach, minister, and witness to a world on the path to eternal destruction and despair. We must come back to the basics of Christianity. We must once again be relentless in our pursuit to see the lost and backslidden saved. What are we actually doing currently in our walk with God that will minister to the lost? How are we using every second that God has granted? How effective is our prayer life? How deep is our burden for the unsaved? To what extent have we attempted to witness? When is the last time that we have actually led someone to the Lord? Are we really taking our responsibility as Christians seriously? Have we just grown numb to the souls of our dearest loved ones perishing? Basically, are we the weak link? Have we been lax in our duties to Almighty God? Do our loved ones not deserve better than what we have been giving? Who is going to care more for our loved ones than you and I? We must carry a burden once again for our lost. We must lie once again before the Lord pleading as the men and women of old. We are saved today because someone didn't give up on us, they kept praying and believing until they seen their prayers answered, until their lost loved ones were grafted into the vine, whose sins were covered by the blood of the Lamb and they knew we were on a path leading to everlasting life with our amazing Savior. Let's make every effort to lead the unsaved to the Lord. Time is not standing still and we are losing many every day to the enemy. Hell enlarges itself daily. Every day many are dying lost and undone, heading straight for a devil's hell and it is definitely time to take a bold, firm stand and make it harder for Satan to accomplish his disgusting goals. He is working hard in these last days to lure and capture as many as he can. Should we not be doing more than that, working even harder to win souls for Jesus Christ, our Lord?
